Scenario

Married underage con artists Lou-Jean (Goldie Hawn) and Clovis Poplin (William Atherton) lose their child in Texas and decide to do whatever it takes to get him back. Lou-Jean breaks Clovis out of jail, and they steal their son from foster care, taking a highway patrolman hostage. As a massive web of men pursues them across Texas, the couple becomes unlikely folk heroes and even bonds with the captured cop.
