Scenario
On an island of haves and have-nots, teenager John B
enlists his three best friends to hunt for a legendary treasure linked to his father’s disappearance. Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, and their “OBX” castmates quiz each other on the best lines from their popular Netflix series. It was filmed in Charleston, South Carolina; it was originally supposed to be filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina.
So what’s not to like!?
Featured on MsMojo: Top 10 Netflix Original Teen Shows (2020). After watching all 3 seasons of Outer Banks, I can’t deny that I was entertained and entertained: every episode is full of fast-paced adventures, treasure hunts, and villain chases, all set in exotic locales and with a few extra romantic entanglements between the young and attractive cast. Well, I have some reservations, too.
And silly nicknames, of course, like JJ and Pope and John B (what's the B for, anyway?)
The events are all extremely far-fetched and unrealistic: how this group of teenage friends manages to repeatedly escape right under the noses of the police or heavily armed criminals, often in a hail of bullets but always unharmed; or how they solve mind-boggling mysteries (like ages-old hidden treasure or the location of the legendary El Dorado) with the snap of a wrist, or thanks to unexpected strokes of luck. The young cast is, of course, supposed to illustrate the importance of true friendship, but their juvenile behavior gradually gets on your nerves, with all the bros and dudes and the inevitable backwards baseball caps. They all look good, but the acting is only adequate; only Drew Starkey really stands out as the troubled Rafe, and Rudy Pankow is quite convincing as the resourceful, ADHD-driven JJ.
It’s really more of a teen series, hardly exceeding the realms of The Hardy Boys or Nancy Drew
Maybe as a reasonably adult person I shouldn’t watch this, but hey, sometimes it’s nice to go with a nice, easy flow without thinking too much. The last scene of season three set the stage for another season, and I bet I won’t be able to resist. Again… No need to waste time scrolling endlessly — here’s the full lineup of new movies and TV shows streaming on Netflix this month.
